The P.E.O. Sisterhood (Philanthropic Educational Organization) is one of the oldest women's organizations in North America. Founded in 1869 at Iowa Wesleyan University, it is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping women achieve their educational goals through scholarships, grants, loans, awards, and support of women's higher education.

Nevada Chapter Q P.E.O. - founded in Reno, Nevada exists to support higher education for young women, often first generation college students through scholarships to the University of Nevada Reno during four-year programs of study.
Chapter Q is one of the long-established P.E.O. Sisterhood chapters serving the Reno–Sparks area. The chapter was founded in 1950 and focuses on supporting local young women in pursuing higher education through scholarships and mentoring.
