Education changes lives. For more than 150 years, P.E.O. has believed that when women are given the opportunity to pursue higher education, they strengthen their families, their communities, and the world.

P.E.O. is an international sisterhood of nearly 200,000 women committed to helping women achieve their educational goals through scholarships, grants, awards, loans, and stewardship of Cottey College, a nationally recognized liberal arts college for women.

Here in Northern Nevada, P.E.O. Chapter Q carries that mission forward through the Marguerite Scholarship Fund, providing scholarships to outstanding young women from the Reno/Sparks community who are attending the University of Nevada, Reno.

Since 2009, generous donors and community partners have helped Chapter Q award more than $300,000 in scholarships to 45 local students. Today, the fund provides $4,000 scholarships to 12 UNR students each year, recognizing women who demonstrate academic excellence, leadership, community service, and financial need.

One of those scholars is Kamille Ciara De La Rosa, a psychology major and Ronald E. McNair Scholar at UNR. While balancing coursework, research, and volunteer service at the University Center for Autism & Neurodevelopment, Kamille is pursuing her dream of becoming a Board Certified Behavior Analyst, earning her Ph.D., and opening her own clinic to serve others. Her story reflects the lasting impact that scholarship support can have on a student's future.

Every November, our community comes together for the Chapter Q Holiday Scholarship Luncheon, our signature fundraising event benefiting the Marguerite Scholarship Fund. Through sponsorships, auction donations, raffle prizes, and direct gifts, every dollar raised helps deserving local women continue their education and prepare to become tomorrow's leaders.
